Core services: Bespoke online competence and evidence management system to 3500 PM staff globally, including project management services and operational system support.

 

Shell has a global projects community of over 3500 staff, managing a portfolio of projects valued at some $40 billion per annum. The capability development of that community lies with the Shell Project Academy and includes a formal competence assessment at various management levels. United Utilities: Launch license to operate scheme to support APM professionalisation

Core services: Support to gain PM community buy-in to APM Registered Project Professional (RPP), Academy RPP Fast Track Programme, APM Corporate Accreditation, License to Operate scheme and online competence system.

 

With a capital programme of over £1 billion per annum and scrutinised within a heavily regulated industry, United Utilities is required to possess demonstrably strong capability in project management.  With a PM community of over 150 staff, United Utilities has aligned with APM professional standards, including an industry leading commitment to APM's Registered Project Professional standard (RPP).  Gaining buy-in from the community to adopt and apply for RPP was a tough challenge.  More...

Heathrow Airport’s PM community has a tough challenge managing a multi-billion capital improvement programme at one of the World’s busiest airports. It meets this challenge through the development of its PM community, with alignment to APM standards and qualifications. The Project Academy team won a competitive tender against stiff competition to initially pilot a scheme to enable BAA to define the competences required at various project management levels and to assess skills against those profiles.  More...

Shell: Choose RPP as the benchmark for those required to manage complex projects

Core services: Project management and consultancy services to enable Shell to adopt APM’s RPP standard, including competence mapping, bespoke RPP assessment process, training of a new RPP assessor pool, management of the pilot project and support to the Shell Project Academy.

 

The Project Academy team has an exemplary track record of working with the APM and corporate clients to adopt RPP. For the top two tiers of Shell’s PM community, RPP was proposed as the benchmark external accreditation for those required to manage complex projects. With an existing portfolio of evidence regime in place, it was a key requirement that Shell PM staff were not required to fully rewrite their documents for the RPP assessment.  More...

Costain is ahead of the curve when it comes to professional project management. It has been on a ten-year journey to enhance delivery of successful projects via robust PM processes / tools and latterly through competence development via its Costain Project Management Academy. TfL: Launch online competence assessment and evidence capture system for 1500 PM staff

Core services: Provision of a bespoke version of the Academy’s online competence assessment toolkit, including project management services and transfer of historic data.

 

Transport for London has a PPM community of over 1500 staff and contractors. Their capability to deliver the multi-billion capital programme has been enhanced by TfL’s Project Pyramid, established and initially managed by our own Operations Director, Lara Taylorson, when she worked at TfL as an employee. In 2011, TfL issued a tender for creation of a new online competence assessment and evidence capture system, following the close of an existing 3-year agreement. More...
